System identification: The asymptotic method (ASYM)

Technical paper: Yucai Zhu. Multivariable process identification for MPC: the asymptotic method and its applications[J]. Journal of Process Control, 1998, 8 (2): 101-115.

This identification technology reduces test time by more than 70% and modeling time by 90%, while improving accuracy. Used by Exxon Mobil, Saudi Aramco, Total, Statoil, Linde, Air Liquide, Supcon, and others.

MPC: A three-term QP algorithm

Technical paper: Yun Zhu, Kangkang Zhang, Yucai Zhu, Pengfei Jiang, Jinming Zhou. Development of a three-term MPC and its application to an ultra-supercritical coal fired power plant[J]. Control Engineering Practice, 2024, 143, 105787.

A next-generation MPC algorithm with stronger disturbance rejection, fast tracking, and improved robustness. By penalizing output oscillations, it outperforms traditional two-term MPC in both control performance and robustness. Since it rollout in 2024, it has been successfully deployed in complex industrial scenarios such as power plants, coal chemical facilities, and cement plants.
