Process Intelligence refers to intelligent operation technologies for process industrial plants. It encompasses three core technologies:
1. PID Control
Automates single-variable loops, e.g., valve-flow loop.
2. MPC/APC
Automates and optimizes for complex, multivariable systems.
3. RTO
Provides optimal setpoints (e.g., air-fuel ratio, oxygen-coal ratio) atop PID & MPC to maximize economic benefit.
Process Intelligence is structured as a hierarchical pyramid. Each layer plays a distinct role, together enabling efficient automatic control & RTO. All layers rely on dynamic models (differential equations).
